Part of a collection of 19 photographic prints, this series provides a unique photojournalistic window into the early months of World War I (1914–1915). The images illustrate the unmechanised and emerging technological facets of the Western Front, covering French artillerymen at Ypres, snowbound Red Cross cars, Belgian sentries, trench networks with traverses, and informal moments among wounded soldiers and troops.
