Construction on the Alexander Theatre began in 1965. It was completed the following year and opened at the beginning of 1967, named after philosopher Samuel Alexander.
Until Robert Blackwood Hall was opened, graduation ceremonies were held in the Alexander Theatre from 1967-1972.
