Monash University Statute 2.2 defined the membership of the Board, outlined the basic requirements for the conduct of Board meetings and further expanded on the function and powers of the board. An official record of Professorial Board meetings was required under Sections 5.2 and 10 of the Statute. The inaugural meeting of the Board was held in November 1960. The Vice-Chancellor acted as Chairman of the Professorial Board and the Registrar served as its Secretary. Following the amalgamation with Chisholm Institute of Technology and Gippsland Institute of Advanced Education in 1990 the Monash University Act was amended and the Professorial Board was replaced with an expanded Academic Board.
