The ad hoc Committee on Student Representation on Council was formed to consider what would be appropriate and to set up suitable terms of election. The group reported to Council in December of the same year recommending legislation be prepared for the inclusion of one student member.
The ad hoc committee was reconvened in June 1968 to consider the appointment of a second student representative to Council and how representation might best be effected. The committee reported to Council in May 1969 recommending two additional student members. Further meetings were held by the committee to consider submissions from student groups and to report on drafting of the statutes. The committee’s final meeting was held in February 1971.
