The Monash University Graduates Association met for the first time in September 1966 and elected a committee to organise activities. The aims of the association were to encourage and facilitate closer relations between Monash graduates, to encourage and facilitate closer relations between graduates and the university, and to assist graduates to increase their usefulness to the university and the community. The Right Honourable Lord Casey became the association’s patron in 1967.
Members of the association were given associate membership of the Union and between 1967 and 1976 had direct representation on the Union Board. An elected committee meets at the university eight times per year and a general meeting is held annually. The Graduate Association’s major official function has been to represent the university at the annual Australian University Graduate Conference.
