Biography

John Fyfield was awarded a BSc (1943) and BEd (1964) from the University of Melbourne. He subsequently worked as a teacher being appointed as foundation Headmaster at Robinvale High School (1957-63) before taking up the position of Headmaster at Portland High School. Fyfield was appointed to a Senior Lectureship in the Faculty of Education at Monash in 1967 and remained there until retirement at the end of 1986. In 1992 he was offered an appointment with the Higher Education Advisory and Research Unit (later the Policy and Planning Directorate) and was appointed Associate Professor in 1994. He retired again in the same year.
