Between 1988 and 1990 the department reported to the Comptroller's Office and from mid 1990 to 1992 it reported to Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Vaughan. In December 1990 the department changed its name to Office of Protocol and Alumni Affairs. In March 1992, Professor Vaughan retired and the office reported to the Registrar. During 1993, the office changed its name to Alumni and Fundraising and reported to Dr Stephen Matchett the Executive Director of the Office of University Development (which became the Marketing and Communications Office in July, 1995). In 1995, Alumni and Fundraising became Alumni Affairs and reported to the Development Office which was managed by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Chandler. In 1995, the Monash Alumni Association Inc was created which took over a number of the Alumni Affairs functions. During 1996, Alumni Affairs became the Alumni Office and it continued to report to Professor Chandler until his retirement in 1996. Towards the end of 1996, the Alumni Office became Alumni Relations and reported to Jenni Chandler, the Executive Director of University Development and Marketing. During 1997, Alumni Relations merged with the Monash Alumni Association, which jointly reported to University Development and Marketing and the Monash Alumni Board. The Director of Alumni Relations, Jennifer Beck, headed up the new Office of International Alumni and Development. In 2016 Alumni Relations changed it's name to Alumni Engagement.
