Activities were organised by the Warden of the Union, Mr Graeme Sweeney and the Secretary to Council, Mr Norman Perry. The following year Union Board recommended (to Professorial Board) that a joint University staff/SRC committee be established to organise the 1964 Orientation period (PB9/63). The committee was convened by the Warden of the Union and reported to Professorial Board and the Students Representative Council. Orientation handbooks were produced by a Handbook Sub-Committee. Over subsequent years the committee became known more simply as the Orientation or Joint Orientation Committee. The Committee has not met since August 2000.
