In 1972 procedures were changed so that senior staff (librarians) promotions were considered by a Library Promotions Committee consisting of the Chairman and two other members of the General Library Committee. Promotions of library staff to positions higher than Assistant Librarian were to be recommended to Council through the Committee of Deans. After 1978 submissions from the Promotions Committee to the Committee of Deans were submitted annually. At meeting 10/84 Council established the Library Staff Committee after a review of library promotion procedures.
