Membership of the committee includes Deans or nominees of all faculties; the Directors of MOSA and the Koorie Research Centre; nominees of Victorian and national aboriginal groups; and representatives of staff and students. The Chairman of the committee, from its inception as an interim committee of the Professorial Board in 1983 to the end of 1992, was Professor M. Ricklefs. He was succeeded by Associate Professor Sue Campbell.
