The committee was to act as a forum for the exchange of information and ideas in relation to planning and policy of computing systems, and to formulate and express these ideas to the University Computing Committee. Although initially known as the Gippsland Campus committee, the committee has been known as the Gippsland Computer Users Committee, since the first meeting of 1995.
Gippsland Campus became part of Federation University in 2014.
