Biography
Bruce Morton was born in 1926. He graduated from Auckland University College with a BSc and MSc, and from Cambridge University with a BA and PhD. He lectured in mathematics at Auckland University College, University College London and at the University of Manchester. He took up the appointment as Chair of Applied Mathematics at Monash University in 1967. From 1972-82 he was a Council member of the Australian Institute of Marine Science. He was a visiting scientist at University of Canterbury, NZ 1985, Cambridge University 1980, University of Reading 1977, Johns Hopkins University 1971, National Centre for Atmospheric Research 1966. He retired in 1991 and was appointed as Emeritus Professor in 1992. He was Interim Director of the Centre for Dynamical Meteorology 1989-92 (?),1995(?)
