Dr Rita Axford was appointed Professor of Clinical Nursing and Director of the Centre in March 1994. The centre was located at Monash Medical Centre and offered 'nurses postgraduate award courses in clinical nursing specialities and provided a major focus for research within the Subfaculty of Nursing'. The education and research programs of the centre were grounded in clinical nursing practice. The Centre closed at the end of 2000.
