The aims and objectives of the Union shall be: 2.1 To occupy and operate premises which shall be a common meeting ground and social centre providing a safe and non-threatening environment for members of the Union. 2.2 To provide facilities for the entertainment, refreshment, recreation, and convenience of the members of the Union. 2.3 To create opportunities for and to encourage the development of cultural, social, intellectual, recreational, and sporting activities for members of the Union. 2.4 To secure the cooperation of the University peoples, organisations and bodies in furthering the objects and interests of the Union and University. 2.5 To provide advice and assistance for the interests of individuals within the Union with regard to social, educational, and welfare matters and encourage special interest groups within the Gippsland Campus. 2.6 To foster the development of social intercourse between members of the Union and the wider community. 2.7 To provide appropriate support services to enhance the educational experience and assist in the skill development of members. 2.8 To assume such other responsibilities and organise and direct such activities as may be deemed appropriate for giving expression to the common interests of members and furthering the objects aforementioned. Membership of the Union was open to students and staff of Gippsland Campus upon payment of the prescribed fee Gippsland Campus became part of Federation University in 2014.
