Biography
Dr Christopher Ash was born in England in January 1945 and attended Oxford University where Professor John Crossley was his PhD supervisor . He was employed in the department of Mathematics at Monash as Senior Teaching Fellow, 1970-73; Lecturer, 1973-81; Senior Lecturer, 1981; and Reader, 1986-1995. He was also Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Connecticut in 1975-76; and Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin in 1980-81. In 1983 he was awarded an ARGC grant for a project entitled 'Recursive Structure Theory'. In 1994 he was elected to a Fellowship of the Australian Academy of Science. Dr Ash's primary research area was logic and computable structure theory. He died on 16 February 1995.
