Prior to joining Monash he was employed as photographer in the Publication and Information Section of the Soil Conservation Authority and completed a course with the New York Institute of Photography. Mr Alleaume was appointed to the position of Technical Officer (Photographic) in the Department of Geography in 1970 and took up his appointment in February 1971.
Mr Alleaume provided photographic advice and services to academic staff and research students in the Faculty of Arts, and produced art photographs for University Information Office publications. These included the Facts about Monash leaflets, the Coastal Atlas, and many of the aerial photographs used in displays. An album of his work was used by Dr Matheson on his overseas tour in 1973 and another was presented to the retiring Deputy Chancellor (Dr Lennox) in the same year. Mr Alleaume resigned from his position in 1980.
