After Monash and MUCG fully merged in 1993, the Caulfield school of Art and Design and the Gippsland School of Arts both became part of a new Sub-Faculty of Art and Design. The Sub-Faculty was designated as a College in 1996, and given the status of a faculty in 1997. The College was subsequently renamed as a faculty.
