John Miller was born in 1930. He graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (1953) and Bachelor of Arts (1969) from the University of Melbourne, Bachelor of Education (1976) from La Trobe, Master in Educational Admin (1979) from the University of New England, and a PhD (1984) from Monash. He was Foundation Dean of the David Syme Business School at Caulfield Institute of Technology (1974-1981). In 1981 he left Monash to be Director of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs. He was Chairman of Pannell Kerr Forster before being appointed Head of the School of Management in the Faculty of Business at Chisholm Institute of Technology in April 1990. He was a Professorial Fellow in the School of Management from 1993 until his retirement on 31 December 1995.
