In 2011 its name changed to the Centre for Theatre and Performance Studies. The Centre offered courses through the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Performing Arts at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Students could specialise in fields such as directing, music theatre, movement, technical aspects of theatre, theatre history, and scriptwriting and design. The Centre also produced various performances throughout the academic year.
In September 2020 it was announced that the Centre and the theatre studies program would be axed, to much criticism from students and the wider performing arts sector. The Sir Zelman Cowan School of Music became the Sir Zelman Cowan School of Music and Performance with critical performance studies being incorporated into the school.
