It's terms of reference were listed as a quote from Section 33(3) of the Monash University Act - "Out of the students' loan fund loans may be made to students of the University who are nominated in that behalf by a committee appointed for the purpose by the Council".
In 1977 the committee became the Students Grants and Loans Committee with terms of reference - To administer the Students' Loan Fund and the Students' Grants and Loans Scheme under the Students' Loan Fund Regulations and the conditions of the Students' Grants and Loans Scheme respectively.
The committee was disestablished in 1991.
