Previously there was a joint Central and Eastern Clinical School from 2002-2009.
In 2021 the school became part of the Sub-Faculty of Translational Medicine and Public Health. In 2024 the school's name changed to the School of Translational Medicine, encompassing the Departments of Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, Diabetes, Gastroenterology, Immunology and Pathology, Infectious Diseases, Neurosciences, Psychiatry (Central) Respiratory Research at the Alfred, and the Department of Surgery (Alfred Hospital).
The School is co-located with the Alfred Hospital.
