Matheson wrote to the Director of Technical Education E. T. Jackson requesting any documents relating to activities other than those connected to his membership of Council. This series is a collection of documents related to technical education forwarded by L. J. Watts, the Acting Director of Technical Education.

Included are copies of Monash statutes, newspaper cuttings of the establishment of the university and the graduation of the first student (Richard Cashman) and accounts for the period 1959-60. It does not appear that these last items were transferred by L. J. Watts with the above material but they are attributed to E. Jackson by an early handwritten archives list. Items 5-7 were discovered with the previous items in 1997 and have been documented with this series. The files contain correspondence and papers of Mr Ian Langlands, a member of the first Monash Council, and are related to the establishment of Monash University.
