Warren was appointed Chairman and Professor of the Department of Zoology on 19 April 1968 after holding various lecturing positions in the department. This series relates to Professor Warren's function as Chairman of the Department chiefly during the period 1968-78. Files in accession 1984/53 covering this period are numbered and colour coded. Most of the files in the second accession 2000/44 relate to the 1990s and appear to be miscellaneous items from a later series. The files cover departmental administration, including budgets and staffing; interaction with the Faculty of Science, including travel grants, degrees, admission policy and selection, courses, the establishment of the School of Environmental Science and selection of candidates for MEnvSci; a variety of research and professional activities within the department; the administration of students; and interaction with the university's central administration on issues such as grants, equipment, orientation and recruitment.
