Series identifierMON404Series title25 Year Service MedalSeries descriptionThe 25 Year Service Medal is awarded to full time staff members who have completed 25 years of continuous service at Monash University. All staff (academic and non-academic) are eligible for this medal and the award is usually presented to staff at a special ceremony. The first medal presentation occurred in 1986 during the Silver Jubilee celebrations. This medallion was presented to Bruce Arthur Knox at a ceremony held in Robert Blackwood Hall on 16 October 1990. Mr Knox returned the medal to the Chancellor, Mr D.W Rogers in 1992.
On the front of the medallion, the following inscriptions have been engraved: "praemium annorum xxv" and "Bruce Arthur Knox". On the back of the medallion a bronze pin has been attached with adhesive tape and the words "MATCHAM SKIPPER MONTSALVAT" have been etched. The Matcham Skipper designed 25 Year Service Medal was awarded for two medal ceremonies (1986 and 1990). The medals made by Mr Skipper were individually cast and were only considered appropriate for the presentation made during Monash University's Silver Jubilee. A new medal was designed internally, in 1992, by Stuart Wagstaffe (Manager, Graphic Services) and produced by the Royal Australian Mint, Canberra.Date range1990 - 1990Series typeUniversity SeriesLinear metreage0.02Format, size, conditionbronze medallion on blackwood mount 105x140mmKeywordsClaytonPersonnelPublic Affairs
