Transparencies depict scenes of kindergarten children playing and were taken in October 1968. The Monash Pre-School Play Centre, organised and run by a committee of staff members' wives, used Birch Cottage from approx. 1964. The cottage was managed by the University Union, and used by sporting clubs as well as the pre-school. It was located in the vicinity of the Main Library.
