It was to serve as a community newspaper for members of the Institute and as a showcase for Chisholm in the wider community. To this purpose, the gazette was used both to disseminate official information and to cover current activities and provide a forum for discussion of issues. The gazette was issued fortnightly in 1984-85 and monthly thereafter. Initially published in a broadsheet format, from 1987 the gazette was published in a smaller A4 size.
