TitleAllied Geographical Section: WWII South West Pacific Area Special ReportsDescriptionThe Allied Geographic Section (AGS) was a World War II intelligence agency operating from Brisbane, Australia from 1942 to 1945. The AGS provided reports to Australian and allied forces on topographic, geographic, hydrographic and anthropologic information on the South West Pacific Area (SWPA). The Special Reports in this collection contain general histories and military importance of specific areas, airfields, climate, communications, description of coastline, medical problems, population, ports and harbours, rivers and canals, roads and railroads and vegetation. In providing this intelligence to allied forces, the AGS assisted military strategy in the Pacific region throughout World War II.
