Installation view from "The Perfect Migrant" exhibition, hosted in The Gallery at Monash University’s Sir Louis Matheson Library in 2021. Centred on the work of artist and sculptor Erwin Fabian (1915–2020), the exhibition explored personal and collective experiences of forced migration—tracing Fabian’s journey from his transport on the HMT Dunera and internment at Tatura to his commentary on contemporary refugee detention. The display paired Fabian’s art with stories of fellow Dunera internees and works by modern Australian refugee artists.
