The committee meets infrequently, to investigate disciplinary matters brought to its attention by the Vice-Chancellor, and reports confidentially to both Council and the Academic Board (formerly the Professorial Board). Statute 4.1 - Discipline, outlines the powers and procedures of the Discipline Committee, and procedures for appealing against its decisions.
Statute 4.1 was repealed on 28 May 2014 and replaced with the Monash University (Council) Regulations, Part 7 - Student Discipline. There are three Discipline Panels - Faculty Discipline Panel, Research Discipline Panel and University Discipline Panel.
