The board meets regularly and may report to Council or the Academic Board (previously the Professorial Board) on matters referred by them. Between 1963 and the establishment of the faculty in 1965, the duties of a faculty board were carried out by the Professorial Board on the advice of a steering committee.
The statutory requirement for faculty boards was revoked in December 2013.
