In January 1985, Engineering was one of three schools of the faculty which were replaced by divisions in a newly created umbrella structure for the faculty. The Division was comprised of the three departments of Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. Following amalgamation with Monash University, the Division was absorbed into the Faculty of Engineering and the former head of division became head of the School of Applied Engineering. The School was renamed Caulfield School of Engineering in 1992. The degrees at Caulfield were phased out in the late 1990s and the school was relocated to Clayton Campus in 1999.
