Biography
Richard Nairn was the Foundation Chair of Pathology 1963-1984. Born in 1919 in the United Kingdom, he graduated with MBChB, MD and PhD from the University of Liverpool. During WWII he served in the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve as a Surgeon Lieutenant. He lectured at the University of Liverpool (1948-51) and the University of Aberdeen (1952-1962) before commencing at Monash. In 1955 he was awarded a Bunts Research Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio. He was Honorary Consultant Pathologist to the Alfred, Prince Henry's, Royal Southern Memorial & Queen Victoria Hospitals. He was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 1965. In 1977 he was appointed Honorary Consultant in Cancer Research to the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Hospital. In 1975 the Chair was renamed the Professorship of Pathology and Immunology.

Documents related to the RCPA/RACP Joint Working Committee on Clinical Immunology 1971-1973 Bound volume of correspondence, reports, minutes and other papers generated or collected by the Joint Working Committee. Prof. Nairn was one of its chief instigators and much of the correspondence and draft papers were produced by him.
