Its terms of reference were "to consult with and advise the Director on all matters of policy relating to the Service, to make recommendations to the Professorial Board, and on behalf of the Director to submit an annual report to Council through the Professorial Board and an annual budget proposal to the Committee of Deans". The committee's terms of reference were revised in 1995 to: receiving the Annual Report of the Health Service; monitoring the performance of the Health Service, Clayton Campus; acting as an information conduit to Academic Board and Council; and contributing to the future development of the Health Service.
