It wasn't until 1962 however that the Monash University Cricket Club (MUCC) was formed subsequently joining the Eastern Suburbs Cricket Association to play in the "B" grade matting section in the 1962-63 season. The MUCC reached its first final during the1963-64 season playing in the "C" grade matting section and won the "C" grade matting Premiership in 1964-65.
In 1965 Monash University got its first turf cricket pitch located on the present main oval and as a result entered two teams into the turf section of competition for the first time. MUCC players were also able to use "Birch Cottage" (demolished 1970) for changing rooms and toilets. MUCC won its first turf section Premiership in the "D" grade in the 1971-72 season.
