In general terms the function of the board was to assist the Principal in determining policy relating to the curriculum of the College. In 1973 the Board was constituted under the SCVF Council with membership including the Principal, Vice-Principal, heads of departments and of the Library and the Lecturer in Charge of Procedures and Practice of Teaching. Duties of the Board included to review the number and structure of courses and make recommendations on the establishment of new courses; to determine regulations governing students' progress through courses; to make recommendations concerning the admission of students to courses and the suspension and termination of studentships; to formulate policies relating to assessment of students; and to make recommendations concerning staffing requirements.
