State College of Victoria Frankston (SCVF)
The State College of Victoria at Frankston (SCVF) was constituted effective 1 August 1973. Previously, SCVF was Frankston Teachers' College.
The State College of Victoria Act of 1972 gave former Victorian teachers’ colleges independence from the Education Department. Under this Act the State College of Victoria, was established as a body corporate - to advance the provision of tertiary education in branches of learning of importance in the preparation of teachers, and to coordinate the development of its eleven constituent colleges. An Order in Council, effective 1 August 1973 constituted the State College of Victoria at Frankston. Mr D. Watson became the first Principal of the new autonomous college. The Frankston College Council, constituted as a corporate body to control and manage the new college, held its first meeting on 21 August 1973. New courses were introduced over the next few years including the degree of Bachelor of Education in 1978.
In 1980 the State College of Victoria Act was repealed and the State College at Frankston subsequently related directly to the Victorian Post-Secondary Education Commission.
In 1981 amalgamation talks were begun with Caulfield Institute of Technology and in 1982 the State College of Victoria at Frankston became the Frankston Campus of the newly created Chisholm Institute of Technology.
