In 1978, the Community and Student Services Office was moved to the Deputy Principal's Division. In 1980 the name was changed to Community and Professional Service. [More research is required on the history of the Office after 1981.] After amalgamation in 1993 the Community Relations Manager reported through the Gippsland Campus Director. [?] Since 1997 the manager has been part of University Marketing and Development.
The first Campus and Community Services Officer was Mr Murray Homes. Mr Homes remained in this position (although the title changed over the years) until the amalgamation with Monash University . The primary function of the office was to provide members of the wider Gippsland community with information about the Institute, including courses offered, activities, facilities and services. This was to be achieved through attention to publicity, publications and direct personal contact with community groups.
Gippsland Campus became part of Federation University in 2014.
