Entity titleUniversity Planning & StatisticsEntity identifier277Entity typeAgencyDate range2004 - DescriptionThe Statistical Officer was a member of the Comptroller's Office from 1967-79, the Vice-Chancellor's Office from 1980-84 and became head of the Planning and Analysis Branch in 1986. Budget and Statistics became a branch of the newly formed Financial Services Division in 1993, before becoming a Division in its own right in 1998. The primary activities of the Budget and Statistical Services Division are: development of recommendations on income and expenditure allocations for the University's annual budget; development of triennium budget planning across the University; provision of financial and statistical information for internal management; co-ordination of statutory statistical reporting of the University's activities to DEETYA, ABS and other agencies; and administration of University travel. In August 2000, as part of a reorganisation of administrative support services, the division was split into Financial Resources Management Division (which included Budgeting, Insurance Services, and Financial Management) and Planning and Academic Affairs (which included strategic planning, learning and teaching, admissions and academic progress, transition/orientation, and statistical services). In 2002 transition and academic policy became the responsibility of the DVC(Academic). The unit became University Planning and Research in 2003. In 2004, load planning support was moved from Financial Resources Management, the Director became PVC (Planning) and the unit was renamed University Planning and Statistics. In 2008 the Office of Planning and Quality was established, combining Planning & Statistics and CHEQ. The office was spit into four units in 2010: University Planning, University Statistics, Education Policy and Programs; Monash Quality Unit.
