The School was renamed the David Syme School in 1978 and became a faculty of Chisholm Institute of Technology in 1989. The Marketing department then became one of the faculty's four Schools. In 1993 the David Syme Faculty merged with the Monash Faculty of Economics, Commerce and Management to become the Monash Faculty of Business and Economics, with Marketing as a department of the new faculty.
