Biography
Born in England on 8 March 1921, Arthur Brown received an MA and D Litt from University College, London, before being employed there as Lecturer (1950-1955), Reader (1955-1962), Professor of English (1962-1969) and Professor of Library Studies (1969-1973). He was appointed to the Chair of English at Monash University in 1973. General Editor of the Malone Society publishing 12 volumes of reprints between 1950 and 1969. [Editor of Studies in Bibliography ?] Professor Brown also published 'A Whole Theatre of Others' in 1960; and 'Edmond Malone & English Scholarship' in 1963.
