It held it's first meeting in May 1998, with Margaret Clayton as convener. It was disestablished in 2004.
Its terms of reference as at 2001 were:
To advise the Equal Opportunity Committee on policies, revision of policies and strategies which will enable the University to provide equal opportunity in employment..
To monitor the progress of the Affirmative Action Program to promote employment opportunities for women and advise on further development.
To monitor the employment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as staff of the University and advise on further development..
To advise on additional policies and programs to promote equal employment opportunity for disadvantaged people.
To monitor and advise on the implementation of the University's equal opportunity policy in the University's employment procedures and practices.
To monitor the achievement of a working environment free of harassment and discrimination.
