Series identifierMON74Series titleRonald Taft research and teaching filesSeries descriptionCorrespondence, lecture notes and working papers in files of various sizes, early lecture notebooks, and a comprehensive collection of offprints of articles by Professor Taft and by colleagues in his field of research. Also included in the series are files related to teaching and supervision of research students, conferences, and Professor Taft's publications.
The series predates Professor Taft's appointment at Monash and continued after his retirement from Monash in 1981. The first consignment was transferred to the archives in 1985, the second in 1993. Additional consignments were transferred in 2000, 2007 and 2020. Although many files are numbered, and this is recorded in the inventory, there is no information on the original system of arrangement and no attempt has been made to recreate original order. The series reflects Professor Taft's interest in areas such as creativity, personality and its assessment, immigration and social values and contains copies of many of his articles on these topics, as well as his original Masters and PhD Theses.
