Series identifierMON281Series titleIan B. Kiddle - Solar tablesSeries descriptionThis series consists of a series of tables compiled as a private project by Mr Ian B. Kiddle, a lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at Caulfield Institute of Technology. Kiddle was appointed to the institute in March 1969 with special permission to lecture at Melbourne University as well (Staffing Committee Minutes). The tables were developed to enable determination of the insolation on a surface of any orientation at any location on the earth’s surface, and were intended to form the main part of a larger work to include considerable geographical data. Following Ian Kiddle’s death in 1977, the tables were arranged for publication by a colleague, Stuart Major, with a grant from the Victorian Solar Energy Committee.
Included with this series are Ian Kiddle’s handwritten tables, an introduction by Ian Kiddle, and a foreword and contents list compiled by Stuart Major. Details of the Caulfield Library’s acquisition of the tables, a list of others holding microfiche copies, and a copy of an article on Ian Kiddle and the solar tables appearing in the Staff Newsletter 21 February 1980, form Item 1 of the series.Date range1974 - 1980Series typePersonal PapersLinear metreage0.72Extent (boxes)4Format, size, conditionfilesKeywordsPersonal Records
