Between 1964-70 this correspondence was created by the University Librarian. Since 1970 however it has been maintained by the Acquisitions Librarian and his department.

Files consist mainly of blue (University Librarian) and yellow (Acquisitions Department) copies of outward correspondence although some inward correspondence is included particularly in files related to exchanges. Exchange files also contain lists of books available for exchange. Files related to donations are composed mainly of copies of correspondence acknowledging donations/gifts to the library. Many of the letters are noted with a donation number which may be linked to a library register of donations.
