SERIES DETAILS
Series identifierMON443Series titleAdmissions and Qualifications Committee agenda and minutesSeries descriptionThe Admissions and Qualifications Committee was established in 1972 to coordinate admission procedures and standards and to establish criteria of eligibility for selection and exemption. Membership was restricted to heads of school, the Registrar, and a student representative. In 1986 the committee's terms of reference were - to advise the Academic Board on academic regulations, admission and selection policies, and assessment across the institute; to coordinate and recommend accreditation of TOP courses; to determine student appeals against assessment or exclusion; and to function as a Higher Degrees Committee. The membership by then was restricted to 2 members of the Academic Board and 6 members of the academic staff, one from each school. In 1990 the University College Academic Board established a Higher Degrees Committee and the Admissions and Qualifications Committee seemed to function largely as an appeals committee. The committee ceased to exist in 1993 when the University College became the Gippsland Campus of Monash University.
This series consists of the Secretary's copies of agenda and minutes of the committee for meetings held between February 1976 and May 1993. Early papers in the series include many photocopies of deteriorating quality. The later part of the series includes signed copies of minutes.Date range1976 - 1993Series typeUniversity SeriesLinear metreage1.08Extent (boxes)6Format, size, conditionFilesKeywordsBoards & CommitteesGippsland
