Series identifierMON555Series titleMemorabiliaSeries descriptionThis series consists of 12 small, hand painted plaques and one round pewter medal. The medal is in a small, faded red velvet box. The plaques vary slightly in size, but each is of a similar shape and design. Each plaque has a lacquered wooden shield shaped base. A coat of arms, on a separate piece of wood has then been attached onto the centre of each plaque. The name of the institution, association, society or activity being represented on the coat of arms, has been placed on a banner which has been attached directly underneath the coat of arms. 11 of the plaques have a 'nail holder' on the back. Some of these 'nail holders' have the words "Made in Gt Britain' inscribed on them. Each of these 11 plaques also has a small piece of paper attached "E.H Rann - Tie and Heraldic Shield Specialist, 21 Sicilian Avenue Southampton Row, W.C.I HOLbon 4759". Eight of the plaques have been numbered (1-8).
The plaques feature copies of coats of arms for institutions like Monash University, St Mark's Hospital, the Royal Australian Medical Association, and the American College of Surgeons. Some of the banners contain Latin words. The history and purpose of these plaques is unknown at this time. Unfortunately only one of the plaques contains a date.
