Series identifierMON667Series titleClayton Arts Council Committee agenda and minutesSeries descriptionThe Clayton Arts Council was established by the Municipality of Oakleigh in 1969. One of its functions was to assist in the integration of the university with the people of the community, and to this end provided that a representative on its committee should be a nominee of Monash University. This series dates from the appointment of Mr Peter Lawrence as the university's representative in March 1971. He was succeeded by Dr J. R. Lawry (1972-73), Dr D. M. White (1974-75), Professor A. P. McCaughey (1975-77), Mr J. M. Browne (1978-79), Ms C. Piesse (1979-83), Dr T. P. O'Brien (1984-87), Ms Louise Robertson (1987-92) and Ms T. Mora (1992- ). Since 1982 the Vice-Chancellor has been patron of the Council.
Files making up this series were forwarded to the Archives by Dr T. P. O'Brien. The series includes agenda and copies of minutes collected by Monash representatives on the committee between 1971 and 1983.
