Volume 1 numbers 1-3 and 17-18 are printed on foolscap sheets. Other issues of Volume 1 are broadsheets 175x255mm. For Volume 2, Chaos was produced as a tabloid newspaper 300x430mm. The last issue printed is Volume 4, number 6 dated May 15, 1964. Chaos was superseded by Lot's Wife, the first issue of which (published on June 24, 1964) is numbered Volume 4 number 7.
The series contains the 1961 editions of Chaos which are held loosely in a manila folder, and Volume 2 No.1 to Volume 6 No.16 editions of Chaos housed in a bound volume. The remainder of the series is a complete set of bound volumes of Chaos and Lot's Wife from 1961 to 1994. The volumes are bound with blue covers, with leather spines and corners, and a red leather strip on the spine for volume details. The volumes vary in thickness with the first volume containing all the issues of Chaos (1961-1964); the second volume containing 2 years (1964-65), and thereafter a volume per year.
An unbound set of Chaos/Lots' Wife is housed in the Archives reference area, in the last row of the compactus. Issues for 1967-68 are missing and 1971, 1974-1975 are duplicated. Accession 1988/15 boxes 17-19 and accession 1994/24 box 14.
Items in 2017/03 are an incomplete set covering 1997-2006, received from Monash University Gippsland Student Union MUGSU. Some issues are undated and have no volume or edition number.
