Tate was appointed by the Interim Council in October 1960. The Accounts Section was part of the Registrar’s Office until 1966 when it was renamed Finance Branch and became part of the new Comptroller’s Office. Mr Tate was subsequently appointed Deputy Comptroller. In the administrative reorganisation of 1993 the branch became part of the new Financial Services Division, and was renamed Accounting Services in 1995.
Prior to 1987 the salaries function was carried out by Staff Branch. In 1987 Salaries and Superannuation were separated from Personnel Services and both became part of Finance Branch in 1991.
In 2000 the Division was renamed Corporate Finance Division
