Entity titleReligious CentreEntity identifier196Entity typeAgencyDate range1969 - DescriptionAlthough most campuses of the university have at least one Chaplain, Clayton Campus is the only one with its own Chaplaincy/Religious Centre. The centre was built with funds raised in a private appeal launched by the university's Churches Committee in 1965. The foundation stone was laid in April 1967 and the building completed in 1969. The centre is for the use of any religious group and is used frequently for weddings and memorial services. Although the Chaplains themselves are representatives of outside bodies, administrative staff of the Centre are employed by the university. Since approx. 1996 Chaplaincy staff have been part of University Community Services, which is itself part of the Student Services Division. (Campus Community Division 2012)
